Giving charity on behalf of the deceased is permissible by the consensus of Muslims. Friday and its eve hold great significance in Islamic law, and the reward for good deeds performed during them is more hopeful and superior. This includes charity. Al-Khatib Al-Shirbini mentioned the desirability of abundant charity and good deeds on Friday and its eve. Ibn Al-Qayyim stated that charity on Friday has a distinction over other days, similar to the superiority of charity in over other months. The general rule is to describe a woman as "deceased" (mayyitah), just as a man is described as "deceased" (mayyit).
