Is this hadith authentic or not, and if not, is persistent supplication with it between the two rak'ahs of Fajr and the morning prayer considered an innovation (bid'ah)? The supplication is as follows: "O Allah, I ask You for a mercy from You by which You guide my heart, gather my affairs, mend my shortcomings, repel tribulations from me, rectify my religion, preserve my absent [loved ones], raise my status, purify my deeds, whiten my face, inspire me with guidance, and protect me from all evil."?

The was graded weak by Sheikh Al-Albani. Despite its weakness, there is no harm in supplicating with it, as it is not a condition for a supplication to be authentic or transmitted through a specific narration. The fundamental principle regarding supplication is permissibility.
