What is the ruling on working for a healthcare organization that offers euthanasia to patients, and what is the ruling on the money earned from this work, and what should be done if the work is impermissible?
It is forbidden for a sick person to use anything that leads to death, as it is considered suicide, which is a major sin; for Allah, the Almighty, says: (And do not kill yourselves. Indeed, Allah is ever Merciful to you.) It is forbidden for a doctor or an organization to assist someone in committing suicide or to invite them to it, due to the assistance in killing involved; for Allah, the Almighty, says: (And cooperate not in sin and aggression.) Therefore, the organization's actions of assisting in "euthanasia" are a great evil. It is not permissible to work in advertising or marketing for this organization. If previous work involved something forbidden, one must repent and dispose of a portion of the money by spending it on the welfare of Muslims or the poor. As for working within the organization, if it is in a permissible field unrelated to forbidden acts, there is no objection; otherwise, it is not permissible.
