What is the ruling on a husband who criticizes his wife for memorizing the Qur'an whenever he gets angry, thereby discouraging her from memorizing the Book of Allah?

The husband should thank Allah for the blessing of a wife who is dedicated to memorizing the Book of Allah and should be a helper to her in this. Uttering discouraging phrases contradicts the good companionship enjoined by Islamic law. We advise the wife to continue memorizing the Book of Allah Almighty no matter what, due to the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "It will be said to the companion of the Qur'an: 'Recite and ascend, and recite distinctly as you used to recite distinctly in the worldly life, for your station is at the last verse you recite.'"
