Does hating self-admiration for a deed after feeling it and trying to negate it from oneself prevent the nullification of the deed, or does the fear of the deed being nullified due to excessive self-admiration—along with being aware of that and trying to struggle against it—still persist?

What occurs in the heart by way of thoughts does not affect one's deeds, based on the Prophet's (PBUH) saying: "Indeed, Allah has pardoned my nation for whatever thoughts they have in their minds." And the fear of one's deeds being invalidated is a good sign, for the believer fears hypocrisy for himself, has a poor opinion of himself, and a good opinion of his Lord. He knows that salvation is by the grace and mercy of Allah, and that his deeds are a favor from Allah. Thus, he is hopeful for his Lord's grace, fearful of his deeds being invalidated, having a good opinion of his Lord, and a poor opinion of himself.
