Will a person be held accountable for feelings of arrogance, malice, hatred, or envy if he resists them and does not commit an act that indicates them? And is self-admiration followed by seeking forgiveness and showing gratitude considered like the act of Qarun?

One does not fall into self-admiration if they attribute all grace to Allah the Almighty, and acknowledge that every blessing they possess is from Him, the Exalted. They should frequently praise and thank Him for His blessings and strive to utilize them in ways that please Him. Their joy in Allah's blessings will not harm them. There is no harm in loving fine clothing, and one is not arrogant as long as they do not belittle anyone. They should remember that blessings are Allah's favor, and they should persist in supplicating to Allah for the continuation of these blessings, seeking refuge in Him from their disappearance. They should also know that the blessing of guidance to Islam is greater than all worldly blessings, and they should thank Allah for it with their heart, tongue, and limbs.
