What is the story of Uzair, is it permissible to say "peace be upon him" after his name, and is he the man whom Allah caused to die for a hundred years and then resurrected, as mentioned in Surat Al-Baqarah?

"Ezra" was a righteous man from the Children of Israel, and it has not been confirmed that he was a prophet. There is no objection to saying "peace be upon him" when mentioning him. Many scholars are of the view that the story of the man whom Allah caused to die for a hundred years and then resurrected him, mentioned in Surat Al-Baqarah (2:259), is the story of Ezra. He passed by a village (Jerusalem) after its destruction and wondered how Allah would bring it back to life after its death. So Allah caused him to die for a hundred years, then resurrected him to witness Allah's power to bring to life after death, and how his food and drink remained unchanged, and how He brought his donkey back to life before his eyes. When this became clear to him, he said: "I know that Allah is over all things competent."
