The answer

Traditional banks are usurious (riba-based); it is not permissible to deposit money in them except out of extreme necessity, such as for safekeeping. It is also not permissible to take interest from them, as that constitutes cooperation in sin. As for a bank named "the Egyptian Bank for Islamic Transactions," if it adheres to Sharia-compliant regulations, then there is no objection to depositing money with it. However, if it engages in usury, its adoption of an Islamic label does not change its ruling, and it becomes like other usurious banks. In such a case, depositing money with it is not permissible except out of necessity.
