How sound is the hadith, "I saw myself and we were young boys during the time of Uthman, and the most agile among us was he who would jump over the grave of Uthman ibn Maz'un until he had cleared it," and is it indeed in Al-Bukhari? What is the Sharia's view on its use by grave-worshippers as evidence for the permissibility of building over and raising graves, and their claim that the prohibition against raising graves is specific to Jews and Christians?

The hadith narrated by Kharijah ibn Zayd about the jumping over the grave of Uthman ibn Maz'un is weak; its narration is not to be relied upon because it is mu'allaq (suspended) in Sahih al-Bukhari, and Yahya ibn Abdullah al-Ansari is unknown (majhul), and Ibn Hajar did not authenticate it. Furthermore, jumping over graves is a reprehensible act forbidden by the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. The statement that the prohibition of building over graves is exclusive to Jews and Christians is incorrect; rather, it is forbidden precisely because it is an act of the Jews and Christians, and it leads to shirk (polytheism).
