And prostitution (al-bigha') in the verse means zina, and not sexual intercourse with a husband or master. For Allah Almighty permitted the master to have sexual intercourse with his slave girl as with a wife, by His saying: ﴿And those who guard their private parts Except from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they are not to be blamed﴾ [Al-Mu’minun: 6].
