How can I engage in trade without disobeying my father, who refuses my working, and should I continue to persuade him despite his anger?

If the father prevents his son from working, while adequately providing for him, then the son must obey his father; because obedience is due in every permissible matter that benefits the father and does not harm the son. If the son insists on working, he should seek an intercessor to speak with his father. It is advised to utilize free time in memorizing the Qur’an, acquiring religious knowledge, and training in useful skills such as computer science and programming, for indeed, health and free time are two blessings concerning which many people are at a loss.
