If the husband’s mother is unjust to the wife, then the wife is not obliged to serve her, and she has the right to demand a separate dwelling. She also retains the right to stay in her parents’ house until the husband provides for her adequately. The husband is not obliged to obey his mother in refraining from traveling to seek sustenance, and her anger or unjust prayers against him will not harm him. The husband must honor his mother and treat her kindly to the best of his ability, and the wife is not permitted to leave her husband’s house without his permission.
