When is the Adhan that Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) innovated on Friday, and is it before or after Zawwal, with evidence?
The jurists who affirm the legality of the first for Friday prayer (who are the majority) have stipulated that its time should be at zawal (midday), before the imam comes out, in order to inform people of the entry of the time, while the second adhan is to be given in front of the preacher. They have based their evidence on the action of Uthman, who initiated it to inform about the time, by analogy with the rest of the prayers. Some scholars, however, are of the opinion that it should be called before zawal, by analogy with the first adhan of Fajr, so that people can prepare for the sermon. It appears that the matter is flexible, and the intent is to inform people sufficiently before the imam comes out.
