Is it permissible to throw leftover food into the sea, and what is the general ruling on that?

There is no harm in throwing food scraps into the sea or other places, as long as it is not considered an insult to the food, if it is not possible to preserve it, benefit from it, give it as charity to the needy, or give it to animals.
