Abu al-Aswad al-Du'ali predates Sibawayh. Abu al-Aswad was born during the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and passed away in the year 69 AH. He acquired knowledge from the Companions, such as Umar, Ali, and Ibn Mas'ud. Sibawayh, on the other hand, was born later and died in 180 AH or 188 AH, and he learned from Abu al-Aswad's students.
