What is the ruling on eating the meat of a sheep, or any permissible animal, if it drank alcohol until it became intoxicated?

If an animal whose slaughter is permissible drinks intoxicants until it becomes drunk, its meat is not forbidden (haram (definition)) to eat. This is because intoxicants are not its primary food, and it does not fall under the ruling of al-Jallalah. Al-Jallalah refers to an animal whose primary diet consists of impurities (najasaat). Imam Malik and Ibn al-Qasim permitted eating game that was intoxicated with wine. Furthermore, wine is metabolized within the animal and does not affect its meat or milk. This is the view held by al-Sarakhsi, al-Jassas, and al-Aini. Ibn Qudamah also mentioned that an animal does not become impure by eating impurities, and that the organs of a wine drinker or a pork eater do not become impure.
