Why does God not help me abandon the sin I am addicted to, despite my frequent supplications and commitment to praying in the mosque? And is this a sign of His wrath?

Do not despair of God's mercy, no matter how many times you commit a sin. Rather, repent to God whenever you sin, for God accepts repentance and restores the repentant as if they had never sinned. Muslim narrated in his Sahih (definition) from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, relating from his Lord, the Almighty and Majestic: "A servant committed a sin and said: O Allah, forgive me my sin. Then the Blessed and Exalted said: My servant committed a sin, and he knew that he has a Lord who forgives sins and holds accountable for sins... Do what you wish, for I have forgiven you." The meaning of this is that God forgives the servant as long as he repents after every sin, no matter how often it is repeated. God loves the repentance of His servant and rejoices in it. He rejoices more intensely at the repentance of His servant than one who finds his riding animal after having lost it in a desolate desert. Be optimistic about God's grace, and do not tire of repeatedly repenting. Increase in good deeds that wipe out sins and in seeking forgiveness, and ask God for help to abandon sins completely.
