You must repent sincerely from sins and transgressions and not despair of it. Seek the company of the righteous, reflect on death, Paradise, and Hellfire, and know that Paradise is precious and requires striving against the self. Adhere to remembrance () and supplication (du'a), reflect on the harms of sins, and know that calamities are due to sins. Read the book "Al-Daa' wa al-Dawaa'" (The Disease and the Cure) by Ibn al-Qayyim, increase in good deeds, and adhere to seeking sacred knowledge.
