The answer

There are several opinions on this matter, among them that a Prophet (Nabi) is one whom Allah informs and who then informs others of what Allah has informed him. If he is sent to convey a message from Allah, then he is a Messenger (Rasul). Otherwise, he is a Prophet but not a Messenger if he acts according to the previous divine law and is not sent to anyone.
