What is the ruling on watching films such as "Saint Mary" and "The People of the Cave"?

It is not permissible to portray Mary, peace be upon her, nor the Companions of the Cave, nor the revered Imams. As for watching such portrayals, if they are free from forbidden elements, then there is no harm in watching them, though it is preferable to avoid doing so. However, if watching them promotes and publicizes evil, then it becomes forbidden at that point.
