Does the breakfast offered by the losing groups to the winning group fall under the ruling of a wager or gambling?

This competition is a form of betting and gambling, which is not permissible according to the majority of scholars, but it is permissible according to Ibn Taymiyyah and those who agree with him. Sheikh al-Islam holds the view that legitimate competitions are permissible, citing as evidence the hadith (definition) of Abu Bakr when he bet on the victory of the Romans over the Persians, because jihad is waged either by knowledge or by weapons.
