How can one reconcile Almighty God's saying: "But as for the favor of your Lord, report [it]," and the Prophet's saying: "Seek help in achieving your needs by concealment, for everyone who is blessed is envied"?

There is no contradiction between the verse (And as for the blessing of your Lord, declare it) and the hadith "Seek help in the fulfillment of your needs by keeping them secret," for secrecy is observed before the need is met, and declaring the blessing comes after it has been attained, provided there is no fear of envy. Scholars indicate that declaring the blessing is a form of gratitude for it and a manifestation of its effects through spending and generosity, not merely a mention of wealth. And the declaration can be general, such as enumerating health and richness.
