Is it permissible for a man to perform the aqiqah for his daughter by sacrificing a cow or a camel, and is it permissible for more than one person to share in a single aqiqah?

It is permissible to perform the 'aqiqah for a newborn by slaughtering a cow or a camel, provided it has reached the age suitable for udhiyah (sacrificial animal). A cow or a camel suffices for seven shares according to the Shafi'i school of thought. Therefore, two or three individuals may share in a cow or a camel for the 'aqiqah of two or three newborns.
