What should a married, religiously committed man, who works as an accountant, do when he has become attached to a girl who lives near his workplace, and thoughts of her plague him day and night despite his attempts to ward them off?

There is no sin in an accidental glance at a girl, but one must avert the gaze thereafter, because what is forbidden is intentionally looking or persisting in looking. There is no sin in unintentional attachment of the heart, as Allah Almighty says: "And there is no blame upon you for that in which you have erred, but [there is blame for] what your hearts have intended." One must be careful not to dwell excessively on thoughts to avoid falling into forbidden acts, because Satan enjoins immorality and wrongdoing. Whoever is truthful with Allah in his intention, Allah will be truthful with him and grant him what he desires.
