Is what the suitor did, in offering to pay for the fiancée's 'Umrah, in accordance with Sharia? And is her 'Umrah valid if it takes place before the engagement or her acceptance?

The money paid by the suitor to the girl is considered a gift contingent upon her acceptance of marriage; otherwise, it is a loan. Most scholars do not consider this gift valid, whereas Sheikh al-Islam deems it valid. We advise the girl not to engage in this dispute. We do not see it appropriate for her to perform 'Umrah in that manner. Instead, she can take the money as a loan, and if the engagement is finalized, he may waive the debt or keep it.
