What is the jurisprudential ruling on using the expression "spiritual nourishment" to describe Tasbeeh (glorification of God), Tahleel (uttering "La ilaha illallah" - there is no god but Allah), Dhikr (remembrance of Allah), and other acts of worship?
There is no objection to using the phrase "spiritual nourishment" to describe acts of obedience, remembrance (), and piety. This is because these actions nourish and strengthen the soul, and this is the most important nourishment for a human being. Allah Almighty referred to piety as "provision" when He said: (And take provisions, for indeed, the best provision is righteousness [piety]) Al-Baqarah/ 197. Furthermore, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, clarified that Allah fed him and gave him drink spiritually when he continued fasting, and this was interpreted as nourishment for the soul and heart, which strengthens them more than physical nourishment. Scholars have also mentioned that caring for children and instilling faith in their hearts is nourishment for the heart and soul, and that lawful nourishment, even if little, is better than unlawful.
