What is the ruling on the imam reciting the Quran in order during congregational prayers with the intention of completing the entire Quran every six months, and is this action permissible, or is it better to limit oneself to what has been mentioned in the Sunnah?

Reciting the Quran in the obligatory prayer according to the order of the Mushaf from Al-Baqarah to An-Nas is permissible, but it is not preferred, as it has not been transmitted from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, nor from any of his Companions. It is better to conform to the Sunnah by reciting a complete surah, or dividing a surah over two rak'ahs, or reciting from the beginning of a surah, or its middle, or its end. Imam Ahmad stated, "I do not know of anyone who did this," and he also said, "There is nothing wrong with this, except that it is narrated about 'Uthman that he did so only in Al-Mufassal." Some scholars are of the view that the negation of dislike does not imply preference, but rather it is permissible without dislike. Sheikh Ibn Baz advises against doing so, and Sheikh Ibn 'Uthaymeen points out that the Sunnah in recitation is from the long surahs of Al-Mufassal for Fajr, its short surahs for Maghrib, and its medium surahs for the rest.
