Is it permissible to abort a pregnancy that has exceeded five weeks if the husband forces his wife to do so, given that they have four children and the husband is not religiously committed?

Abortion is forbidden by Islamic law because it is an assault on a soul. Its prohibition intensifies after the fetus has formed or the soul has been breathed into it, because it is the killing of a soul whose killing Allah has forbidden.

Many scholars have gone to the extent of prohibiting abortion absolutely, while others have permitted it before forty days.

The husband's threat of divorce and having four children is not considered a necessity that permits abortion.
