What is the interpretation of Allah Almighty's saying: "And fear a Day when you will be returned to Allah"?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

This noble verse was revealed after the verses on usury in Surat Al-Baqarah, warning of the Day of Judgment and the return to Allah, and His accountability for creation, and that every soul will be paid in full for what it earned, without injustice.

Scholars have deduced from this verse the obligation to fear the Day of Judgment by fulfilling Allah's commands and avoiding His prohibitions, the affirmation of resurrection, that the return of all creation is to Allah in judgment, decree, and recompense, the affirmation of Allah's power to resurrect, and that even a small child's good deeds are recorded for reward.
