Is it permissible to shorten and combine prayers (qasr and jam‘) when moving between several places during travel, each at a distance that permits qasr, while staying for a few days in each?

It is permissible to shorten prayers when visiting parents if the person has settled in another city that is at a distance allowing for shortening prayers. The Companions used to shorten prayers in Mecca after the Hijra, even though they had relatives there. Shortening prayers is also permissible when traveling to another city and returning to one's parents, as long as the intention to stay does not exceed four days. If it exceeds four days, then the prayers must be completed.
