Impurity is not transferred merely by walking on an impure rug, nor is its transfer ruled by doubt. If the rug or the foot is wet, there is a difference of opinion regarding the transfer of impurity.

As for praying on an impure rug: - If a barrier is placed or if the limbs do not touch the impure spot, the prayer is valid. It is disliked to pray next to an impure object if it is close. - If the limbs touch the impure spot, the prayer is invalid. - If an impure rug is confused with a pure one, prayer is permissible after investigation, based on what is most likely pure; otherwise, it is invalid. - If the impurity is on a large area of ground and its exact location is unknown, prayer is permissible in any spot therein, because the default state is purity. However, if it is in a house and its exact location is unknown, prayer is not permissible until it is washed or a pure spot is sought out.

An invalid prayer must be repeated. It suffices to make an effort to identify and wash the impure spot on the rug, or to pour water over it if the rugs are indistinguishable.
