Is it permissible to soak raisins with figs or apricots to make "Khoshaf" (a dried fruit compote), and is it permissible to soak fruits together, such as apples with bananas and oranges, to make a fruit salad, by analogy with the ruling that it is not permissible to soak raisins with dates?

Al-Bukhari and Muslim narrated that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade combining dates and raisins, and fresh dates and unripe dates in nabidh (a drink made from soaking fruits). He also forbade combining two things in nabidh where one would overpower the other. The reason for this prohibition is that intoxication quickly occurs due to the mixture before its taste changes, leading the drinker to believe it is not intoxicating. The majority of scholars hold that this prohibition is one of disliking (tanzih), unless it becomes intoxicating. As for mixing fruits with each other to make a fruit salad, there is no harm in that.
