Does God accept a supplication that is uttered unintentionally, emerging from the tongue in a semi-awakened state, such as supplicating for one's son to go astray or to keep bad company? And does He, the Exalted, know what is in the breasts?

A mother's prayer against her child is answered, because it may be answered even if the supplicant did not intend it. The proof for this is that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "If one of you feels drowsy while praying, let him lie down until sleep leaves him, for when one of you prays while drowsy, he does not know, he might be seeking forgiveness and instead revile himself." The meaning of "revile himself" is to supplicate against himself. Just as the supplication of parents against their children is answered, so too is their supplication for them answered.
