The answer

If a person dies leaving behind a wife, three sons, and three daughters, then his wife receives one-eighth as her prescribed share due to the existence of descendants. The remainder is divided among the sons and daughters by way of ta'sib (residuary inheritance), with the male receiving twice the share of the female. The estate is divided into seventy-two shares, of which the wife receives nine shares, each son receives fourteen shares, and each daughter receives seven shares. The father’s bequest to the sons to build houses for the daughters is not binding. The gifting of apartments to the sons without the daughters is considered an invalid gift and must be returned even after death, because the father is required to be just in his gifts to his children. The apartments that the sons live in and the land that was sold are all part of the inheritance and must be divided among the heirs according to the divinely prescribed division.
