How is the inheritance divided between the wife, the three daughters, and the three full sisters?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

If the deceased left behind only a wife, daughters, and full sisters, then the wife receives one-eighth due to the presence of a lineal descendant. The daughters receive two-thirds, and the remainder goes to the full sisters by way of ta'sib (residuary heirship), because sisters with daughters become asabat (residuary heirs) and take what remains. Accordingly, the estate should be divided into 72 shares. The matter must be referred to the Sharia courts, as inheritance issues are serious and complex, and a mere fatwa is insufficient. There might be other heirs, or wills, or debts.
