What is the ruling on the intermediary—who was entrusted with delivering a sum of money to the poor in Palestine—taking from this money after he himself fell into financial hardship, and what is now incumbent upon him after he has taken from it?

If you accept money from your friend, it enters your possession, and there is no harm in accepting it. You are not obligated to remove this money from your possession, but if you wish to give it away as charity later, that is good.

As for the money he gave you to distribute to the poor in your country, it is not permissible for you to take from it except with his permission, unless he did not specify them by name and intended the general category of those in need, and you are eligible. However, abstaining is better in any case.
