What is the ruling regarding someone whose faith is strong and who is zealous in upholding the religion, but who does not shorten his garment or grow his beard, contenting himself with a short beard?

Whoever combines zeal for religion, strong faith, and reverence for God's sacred things is on a path of great good, and should strive for more. If a slip or stumble occurs, their faith will drive them to repentance and fleeing from sin. Persistence in sin diminishes zeal and weakens faith. Whoever has tasted the sweetness of faith will find it strange to persist in a minor sin. Whoever is truthful in their love for the Prophet, peace be upon him, will have no hesitation in their heart to follow his Sunnah. It has been authentically reported that he would let his beard grow and shorten his garment, and he commanded the growing and letting loose of the beard, which is contrary to trimming it, based on his saying, peace be upon him: "Be different from the polytheists, let your beards grow full and trim your moustaches." In another narration: "Let your beards grow." And in the Sahihayn: "And let your beards grow." As for shortening the garment, his saying, peace be upon him, was reported: "The believer's izar (lower garment) reaches mid-calf, and there is no harm in what is between it and the ankles. What is below the ankles is in the Fire. Whoever drags his izar out of arrogance, Allah will not look at him."
