How do spouses greet each other upon returning home when they are alone, and does the phrasing differ if the wife is asleep or in the restroom?

If a husband and wife enter a house together where there is no one else, they should say: "Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allah."

If one spouse enters and finds the other sleeping or in the restroom, they should greet themselves and the angels in the house by saying: "Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allah," or "Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings." They should not intend their greeting for the sleeping person or the one in the restroom, as it is disliked to greet someone in such a state.

If one spouse enters first, they should say: "Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allah." Then, the other spouse should greet those in the house by saying: "Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings."
