How can one deal with intense feelings of admiration for a girl and the desire to marry her in the future, knowing that one cannot forget her or focus on studies, and cannot confide in family or the girl about this?
A person is not to be blamed for a heartfelt attachment between a young man and a young woman if he did not seek its causes through forbidden means and did not exceed the bounds of moderation. The cure for this attachment is marriage, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "We have not seen for two who love one another anything like marriage."
If marriage is not feasible, then the young man must remove this attachment, especially if it leads to neglecting obligations. The energy of youth must be utilized in what benefits one in matters of religion and worldly life, because a person will be questioned about his lifespan and youth on the Day of Judgment, as stated in the Hadith: "The feet of a servant will not move on the Day of Judgment from before his Lord until he is questioned about five: about his lifespan, how he spent it? And about his youth, how he wore it out?"
The advice is: If you are able to marry her, then propose to her. If you are not able, then do not declare it, and strive to remove this attachment from your heart by adhering to the limits of the Sharia, staying away from provocations, occupying yourself with what is beneficial, strengthening your connection with Allah by observing prayers and attending circles of knowledge, associating with the righteous, seeking help from Allah, and frequently engaging in remembrance and supplication.
