Does sincere repentance erase sins without worldly punishment, making the sinner as one who never sinned, and what is the difference between one who strives against his desires and one who follows them if repentance removes sin without punishment?

A person who repents with sincere repentance has the effects of the sin and its punishment erased from them in this world and the Hereafter, as Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah stated. Repentance requires great struggle, because for someone who has tasted the pleasure of disobedience, it is difficult to abandon it. This challenge may be greater than the struggle of one who has not committed the sin. Satan may beautify disobedience with the illusion of repenting from it, and this is a dangerous entry point because death may come while the disobedience is ongoing, or it may be difficult to abandon it after addiction. Scholars have differed on the preference between a repentant person and one who has not committed a sin. The gist of the research is that the matter depends on the state of the repentant person after repentance: if they strive more, they may surpass one who has not sinned; otherwise, one who has not sinned is better. Allah is Wise and Just, so a Muslim should beware of sins.
