Did the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, curse the "saltaa" who neither dyes her hands with henna nor applies kohl to her eyes?
Al-Haythami mentioned in his book "Az-Zawajir" that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed "the 'Saltaa' who does not dye [her hands/feet] and the 'Marhaa'' who does not apply kohl." It was narrated from Aisha that the Prophet said: "I indeed dislike seeing a woman who is 'Marhaa' and 'Saltaa'," but the extent of the authenticity of this hadith is not known. However, scholars have recommended dyeing [the hands/feet] and applying kohl for women. This is further confirmed by what was narrated concerning Hind bint Utbah, when the Prophet said to her: "I will not pledge allegiance to you until you change your palms; they are as if they are the palms of a predator." Al-Albani deemed this hadith weak.
