The fundamental principle, according to the majority of scholars, is the prohibition of drawing complete images of animate beings. However, some have permitted drawing incomplete images (from which a part essential for life, such as the head, has been removed), or drawing images with indistinct features. Accordingly, there is no harm in drawing a face with the eyes, nose, and mouth covered, or drawing a face without the rest of the body. Nevertheless, it is safer to abstain entirely from drawing animate beings.
