What is the ruling on a wife remaining with her husband who insists on associating with his father, who in turn associates with his son's wife, who is afflicted with contagious tuberculosis, knowing that the wife fears for herself and her children, and is it permissible to eat food offered from the patient's house?

A Muslim must protect himself from everything that harms his health and avoid places where infection may spread, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "A sick person should not be brought to a healthy one." However, communicating and visiting relatives afflicted with a contagious disease is not forbidden, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "All is trust in God and reliance upon Him," when he ate with a leper. Therefore, the command to avoid the sick is on the basis of recommendation and precaution, not obligation.
