What should a husband, married to three women, do if repeated medical examinations show that one of his wives has a sexually transmitted disease that is only transmitted through intimate relations, while another wife complains of a different sexually transmitted disease, and the husband ignores the matter for fear of discord? And what should the wife do in this situation: should she inform the other wives of the virus, or ignore the matter and only inform the husband?

If it is established that one of the wives is afflicted with an infectious disease transmitted through intercourse, the husband is not permitted to cause harm to his other wives, for harm must be removed. If the husband does not attend to this, then the wife should inform the others out of sincere advice, because "religion is sincere advice," and this includes guiding Muslims to what benefits them and warding off harm from them. It should be noted that a wife's affliction with an infectious disease does not imply that she has committed immorality, and it is not permissible to accuse her of such, because the default for Muslims is their well-being, and "avoid much of suspicion; indeed, some suspicion is sin."
