How did Satan know there was a straight path and that most people were ungrateful for Allah's blessings, even before Allah commanded him to prostrate to Adam?

The verses in Surah Al-A'raf recount the story of Adam's creation, Allah's command to the angels to prostrate to him, and Iblis's refusal, which led to his expulsion from Allah's mercy. Then Iblis asked Allah to grant him respite until the Day of Resurrection, and he vowed to mislead the children of Adam and turn them away from the straight path. Iblis's assumption proved true for most people, except for a group of believers, after he swore to lead them astray as a result of his transgression. Ibn Kathir interpreted his saying, "Because You have sent me astray, I will surely sit in wait for them on Your straight path," to mean, "Just as You have destroyed me and led me astray, I will surely lie in wait for Your servants." This story is repeated in several Qur'anic surahs, and there is no mention of temptation preceding the command to prostrate. A Muslim should not delve into the ambiguous verses of the Qur'an.
