Does sin befall the suitor if he breaks off the engagement due to the bad reputation of his fiancée's father, despite the girl's good character?

Filial piety and obedience to parents are obligatory. However, a fiancé's father's bad reputation does not justify breaking off the engagement if she herself is religious and of good character, because Allah Almighty says: {And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another}. Try to convince your mother, and if she is not pleased, then do not marry her. You will not incur any sin.
