With what did Cain kill his brother Abel?

The noble verse: "So his soul prompted him to kill his brother, and he killed him, and became among the losers," refers to Cain killing his brother Abel. It is well-known that the killing occurred by smashing his head with a rock, as he found him sleeping on the mountain, raised a rock, and crushed his head with it. Al-Tabari and Ibn Al-Jawzi mentioned this. Ibn Kathir narrated from Al-Suddi, from a group of Companions, that Cain sought Abel to kill him, so the latter fled. Then he found him sleeping while tending his sheep and crushed his head with a rock. Ibn Jurayj said that Iblis appeared to Cain and showed him how to kill by placing a bird's head on a stone and then crushing it with another stone, so Cain did that to Abel's head. Some prefer the view that he was killed while surrendering or during his sleep. Ibn Al-Jawzi mentioned three narrations for the manner of killing: stoning him, striking his head with a rock while he was sleeping, or crushing his head between two rocks. There is also an uncommon saying from some People of the Book that he killed him by strangulation and biting.
