The answer

"Ahl al-Fatrah" (People of the Intermission) are those who lived in a time when the call of a prophet or a divine book had not reached them, such as the period between Jesus and Muhammad, peace be upon them both. This is based on Allah's saying: "O People of the Scripture, there has come to you Our Messenger to make clear [the truth] to you after a period [of absence] of messengers" (Al-Ma'idah:19). As for the people of Mecca, they were among Ahl al-Fatrah before Islam, but after the advent of Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, they were no longer so, because he warned them and showed them the path of guidance.
