Did Ibn Faris err in applying the term "Mukharrim" to include those who lived through both the Jahiliyyah and Islam without restricting it to those who did not meet the Prophet, or does the terminology of linguists differ from that of Hadith scholars on this issue?

The term "(al-Mukhḍaram)" differs in its usage between linguists and Hadith scholars. Linguistically, it refers to anyone who lived through both the Jahiliyyah (pre-Islamic era) and Islam, whether they were a Companion (Sahabi) or not. As for Hadith scholars, they mean by it one who lived through theiliyyah and the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and embraced Islam, but did not have companionship with him.
