ما هو أصل اشتقاق كلمة "مخضرم"؟ وما معناها اللغوي والاصطلاحي؟

In the Arabic language, an mukhaḍram (one who lived through two eras) is someone who lived through both the pre-Islamic era (Jahiliyyah) and Islam, because the root meaning of khaḍramah is to place something in between. In terminology, it refers to someone who lived through both the pre-Islamic era and Islam but did not see the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. An example is Suwayd ibn Ghafalah, who lived through the Jahiliyyah and embraced Islam during the Prophet's lifetime, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, arriving in Medina on the day of his burial, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and thus never seeing him. He is called a mukhaḍram due to his oscillating status between the Companions, whom he coexisted with, and the Successors, due to his failure to meet the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.
